Hair Fall: Common Causes and a Gentle Hair Care Routine
Some daily hair fall is normal. What commonly makes it worse, when to see a doctor, and a gentle oiling and washing routine that reduces breakage.

Losing some hair every day is completely normal — most people shed dozens of hairs daily as part of the natural growth cycle. What worries people is more than usual, or hair that snaps rather than falls.
Shedding or breakage?
- Shedding: the hair comes out from the root, often with a small white bulb at the end.
- Breakage: short pieces snap along the length. This is usually about dryness, heat styling and rough handling — and it is where hair care helps most.
Common things that make it worse
- Harsh shampoos and very hot water
- Tight hairstyles and rough towel-drying
- Daily heat styling and chemical treatments
- Stress, poor sleep and crash diets
- Hard water and dust
When to see a doctor
Please see a dermatologist if hair loss is sudden, patchy or heavy, if you notice bald spots, or if it comes with other symptoms. Thyroid problems, low iron, hormonal changes and some medicines can all cause hair loss — a hair oil cannot treat these.
A gentle routine that reduces breakage
- Oil two to three times a week. Massage a light, cold-pressed oil into the scalp for three to four minutes and run the rest through the lengths.
- Leave it at least an hour, or overnight.
- Wash gently with a mild shampoo and lukewarm water; condition the ends.
- Pat, don't rub — use a soft cotton towel or old T-shirt.
- Comb when damp, not soaking wet, starting from the ends.
- Give it eight weeks. Hair grows about a centimetre a month.
Where SFIVA fits
SFIVA Organic Hair Oil is a cosmetic hair oil — not a medicine. Used in this routine, most customers notice softer, stronger-feeling hair and less breakage over eight weeks.
